About Dream Big
“I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habbakuk 2:1-3
The Lord’s word is forever true and miraculously unfolding before our eyes! We have waited, the appointed time has come, and now the vision has been plainly written. He has placed a vision upon the hearts of His people to go forth and bring about change. Not change in the sense of one adjustment or a single alteration, but change in the sense of a resurrection, renaissance or rebirth in multiple ministries and in multiple lives.
With God’s help and direction we, the Executive Board of the 5th District Sunday School and Holiness Youth Ministry, envision a resurrection of our people by a significant increase in participation at district events and a thriving youth counsel. We envision a renaissance of ways to win souls to Christ in the form of an internet presence throughout the district and district sponsored mission trips. We envision the rebirth of effective programs and most importantly, a cohesive body of believers working, training, developing, and implementing “The D.R.E.A.M.”
More specifically, our vision calls for us to D.R.E.A.M:
Demonstrate: We will model appropriate practices for local church departments and ensure that our leaders are committed to Christ.
Recruit: We will recruit members and encourage and empower those we come in contact with the tools they need to go forth and win souls by proclaiming God’s word.
Effective: We will effectively train local leaders on how to interact with you and win lost souls.
Accountability: We will build relationships with local and district leaders in order to foster effective accountability.
Maintain: We will maintain programs of Christian fellowship implementing measures to assess if intended goals and objectives have been met.
This short acronym demands so much action and dedication. Yet, Proverbs 29:18 states: "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." Even a frequent statement of our bishop, Vernon E. Kennebrew came to mind, ”if you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got.” So why not write the vision? Why not dream? As children our parents always encouraged us to dream big. Whether we wanted to be a singer or an astronaut, we were told the sky was the limit. As children of God, that same statement holds true. God too wants us to “dream big,” whether it be planning a local mission trip or saving every lost soul in the world. The sky is only the limit for those who don’t rely on God and His word. D.R.E.A.M Big!
